The new WNC – North Wales Captain!

Until recently, Kevin Hughes—Wales’ WTC Captain—had been temporarily covering the role of North Wales Captain while we searched for the right person to take on the position. From the start, our aim has always been to ensure that each region within the Welsh National Championships is represented by someone who can truly champion their local 40k scene, free from any concerns about bias or favoritism.

With dedicated captains now in place for each region, both Kev and I can step back from regional duties and focus on supporting the national picture. This structure gives us the freedom to help all regions equally and fairly, while empowering local leaders to grow their communities with confidence and independence. I would like to thank Kev for getting us to where we are now, however…

Without further ado…

Introducing the New North Wales Captain for the Welsh National Championships

Hey everyone, Ben here! I’m incredibly proud to be stepping into the role of Captain for North Wales at this year’s Welsh National Championships (WNC). It’s an honour to represent such a passionate and skilled community, and I’m excited to lead a team that truly showcases the strength of 40k in our region.

For those who don’t know me, I’ve been deeply involved in the local Warhammer 40k scene for years. I currently run the Deeside Defenders 40k league, which has grown into a thriving community hub for players seeking consistent, competitive play.

I’m also a Games Workshop-approved Tournament Organiser (TO), focused on delivering high-quality events that bring players together and raise the bar for what local 40k can offer.

Being named WNC captain isn’t just about building a strong squad—it’s about celebrating the drive, dedication, and raw talent we have in north Wales. From weekly league nights to larger events, my goal is always the same: create meaningful opportunities for players to develop, connect, and enjoy the game we all love.

I can’t wait to see what this year’s WNC brings, and I’m confident our region will make a strong impression. Whether you’re a veteran or just starting out, I look forward to rolling dice with you soon. Let’s make north Wales a name to remember!
