WNC – How it works

March was a great start for the Welsh 40K community. We had four WNC events across three different clubs and regions, and the WNC league tables have finally started to shape up.

In this article we will cover how the WNC league tables work, how the points are given, why they matter and what events are coming up next.

WNC points, how do they work?

The top 16 places in each WNC event will earn points according to their finishing position. First place receives 30 points, and each subsequent position receives 2 points fewer, down to 15th place, which receives 2 points. The point distribution is as follows:

Where can I find the league tables?

You can find the regional (North, West, South) League tables on the link below

WNC Points, why do they matter?

The points you receive in your regional league provide the WTC WALES TEAM with an overview of players, skills and commitment of the players within the Welsh community. But more importantly provide you with bragging rights within your given region.

The top cut from each region will be invited to the WNC invitational at the end of the year for a chance to join the Welsh squad for the proceeding year.

How is the top cut determined?

Your best 4 results are used to determine if you will be awarded a place at the Invitational on the 6th of December 2025. Ultimately the WNC is designed to build up the community and the strength of the club within it, so you can include 1 external result in your top four e.g. Kev takes part in 6 North wales league events over the year, and 1 South wales event, he can choose to use one of the South Wales league results in his top four results.

This means you always have a reason to support external leagues and introduced yourself to your fellow WNC members.

The number of individuals invited from each region is not fixed and will be decided by the WNC board (regional captains and the Team Wales WTC captain) prior to the event.

Why are there total scores on the league tables?

Until players post at least four results, a players total score is used to determine their league position.

regional captains may also use them to determine the overall winner of their regional league, rewarding both the overall skill and dedication to the league.
